![]() ![]() I have my reasons, and he knows what he has to do to make things right. Let it be known: I enjoy a good rip on Christopher Columbus. ![]() SwitchArcade Score: 4.5/5 Here Be Dragons ($17.99) Make sure you give it a look if you like a good story or getting to know interesting characters. The gameplay here is fine but not ground-breaking the story on the other hand is at once cathartic and heart-breaking. As you play, you’ll upgrade your ship to improve its facilities and capabilities. Then finally say good-bye to each one of them. Do what you can to make them comfortable. You have to talk to each passenger and get to know them. You’re ferrying departed souls to the afterlife, and while that may seem grim business it’s as much about the journey as it is the destination. But this is perhaps one of those games where the less you hear about before you play it, the better. I wanted to do a bigger review of this game because it deserves it, but this is how things shook out. Oh, and apparently New Blood’s DUSK port for the Switch will be getting a new Mario-inspired level. Nightdive was also there, showing off their Switch version of Shadow Man Remastered, as well as added details for Blade Runner: Enhanced Edition and the announcement of Strife: Veteran Edition for the Switch. Kingpin: Reloaded should make its debut before the end of this year. The classic Rise of the Triad will be coming to Switch next year as well, along with an expansion for Ion Fury. A spiritual successor to Hexen called Graven is on the way to Switch in 2021 from Slipgate Ironworks, and it looks promising. For now, I’d love to hear your thoughts on the games featured.3D Realms had its own digital show over the weekend, and there was a lot in there to interest Switch owners. If you have the time, I’d highly suggest tuning into both days of content. It was a very exciting Realms Deep, filled with game reveals and interviews. Needless to say, both games are on my radar following the event. ![]() Cyber Hook, on the other hand, heads fully into modern cyber aesthetics, having you move incredibly fast using a hook. The former looks to give retro-FPS games a modern facelift while maintaining a pixel art style and looks great for those wanting to get into the genre. That is a lot of new games, but I’m personally excited about Prodeus and Cyber Hook. There were announcements for Brutal Fate, Hell Hunt, Cyber Hook, DOOMBRINGER, Dread X Collection 2, Effigy, Hellbound, Hedon, Adventures of Square, Prodeus, HROT, Hellscreen, Hyperviolent, and many more. Realms Deep also some interesting announcements from their partners. I’m a big fan of 3D Realms’ games, so I’m excited to see what these games look like. They also announced a fresh expansion and soundtrack for Ion Fury, a shooter we reviewed a while back. There was also a remaster of the cult classic Rise of the Triad announced, bringing newer gamers to the retro 90s first-person shooter. GRAVEN, SiN: Reloaded, and Core Decay were all new games from the publisher, all looking great from their initial previews. ![]() Realms Deep 2020, as expected, featured fresh announcements from 3D Realms themselves. For those who don’t have the chance to tune in though, here’s everything the team had to show off at the event. If you didn’t get the chance to watch it, you can do so at the link below. It’s an interesting time for old-school gamers to look at what kind of modern classics they can look forward to, and for younger gamers to get a taste of the old days. This event looks into much of what not only 3D Realms is up to, but their partners and friends as well. This weekend, retro first-person shooter giant 3D Realms hosted a digital event known as Realms Deep. ![]()
